Raw milk is currently available in Missouri via on-farm purchases and herdshare agreements.
House Bill 1711 proposes to add raw milk and raw cream for human consumption to the list of permitted dairy food sales in the state.
“Grade A retail raw milk or cream”, raw milk or cream produced upon 11 dairy farms conforming to sanitation and bacteriological standards that meet or exceed those of grade A pasteurized milk;
This would allow raw milk to be sold in grocery stores and other off-farm retailers, with labeling to indicate that the milk is unpasteurized. Raw milk farmers would be held to standards that “meet or exceed” the standards required to produce grade A pasteurized milk.
