Legal Status & Regulations

Raw cow milk is prohibited for sale as a food in New South Wales under the FSANZ Food Standards Code. An exemption permits the sale of unpasteurised raw goat milk under the NSW dairy food safety scheme. Producers must comply with testing requirements, maintain recall procedures, and carry an advisory statement that the product is unpasteurised.

Bath milk products made from raw cow milk may be sold as cosmetic products under the national deterrence requirements but are not permitted for human consumption.
