Attend a Stop the Bleed class

Earlier this month a video was released by The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). This video shows a Ukrainian woman meekly boarding a bus before she was stabbed to death by surprise by an African American male. This guy then pretended that she called him a forbidden word. The emotions brought by the racial dynamics of this situation propelled her story onto the world stage.

The situation is enraging, the video is gruesome, and the indifference of her fellow passengers is haunting.

Local police immediately arrested the attacker and charged him with first degree murder. Soon after becoming aware, FBI and DOJ assumed jurisdiction and took over the case. Charges might also fall on judges who let him off the hook for illegitimate reasons, through his 14 arrests, but that’s to be seen. There’s not much anyone can do about the ones who left her to be found over a minute later, advisably compared to NPCs, except to not be one.

Iryna’s family has asked for change, and I agree with them. The inner-city situation has improved drastically over the past few years, but still there is so much room for improvement.

On cue, right and left third-worldists proceeded to lob vitriol at each other on the Internet. I’ve got a more first-world idea, make sure that you have some awareness of first-responding skills. There are decisions you can make in situations like this that can save lives.
