Victoria Raw Milk Laws & Regulations

Raw milk of any species is banned for human consumption. Victoria does not permit raw goat milk sales and requires a bittering agent in cosmetic bath milk.

Update

Legal Status & Regulations

Raw milk of any species is prohibited for sale for human consumption in Victoria. Unlike four other Australian states, Victoria does not permit the sale of raw goat milk as a food product. Victoria also requires that raw cow milk sold as a cosmetic "bath milk" product must contain a bittering agent to deter consumption, a requirement introduced in February 2015.

The Agriculture and Food Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 was introduced in the Victorian Parliament, though the specific provisions affecting raw milk for human consumption were not fully available at time of writing. The current legal position remains a prohibition on all raw milk for human consumption.
