On March 11, 2025, the administration and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) slashed over $1 billion in funding for local food programs, including:

These cuts hurt local farmers and make it harder for schools and food banks to access fresh, local produce.

Fans of the current administration are pulling the wool over their eyes, making elephants out of flies with oddball foreign aid projects representing a minuscule part of the budge. The consequences to local food systems are clear and destructive, with no plans of bridging the gap.
