Florida just proposed a rule (Notice 29655730) that could seriously harm small farmers—and most people don’t even know it’s happening. The rule is being marketed as support for “limited poultry and egg operations”… but here’s what it’s actually doing:

It allows small farmers to sell poultry only if the bird has the head, feet, and guts still attached.

It bans cleaned, dressed poultry unless you go through industrial processing.

It requires new water testing, paperwork, and permits just to stay legal.

Let’s be honest:

Nobody is going to buy a chicken like that from a local farm. And the government knows it.

This doesn’t reduce red tape—it shifts the burden from the state to the farmer.

It makes it look like they’re supporting small producers, but they’re actually sabotaging their sales.
