Pesticides are a big issue. Herbicides, insecticides and fungicides have helped raise crop production to insane levels that no human could’ve dreamed of. They also poison farmers and workers who come into contact with these chemicals at volumes required in production environments.
Not producing food with pesticides reduces output in large commercial environments, and organic pesticides don’t seem to be much safer.
Not that eating them is the big issue, so long as the amounts found on the food aren’t abnormally high. Workers who work with these chemicals and people who live near where they are sprayed are the most at-risk of serious illness.
Senate Study Bill 1051 is passing through the Iowa Legislature to grant immunity to the companies that produce pesticides when their products make people sick or deathly ill.
Somebody has to pay those steep medical bills when they occur, and pesticide companies want the government to run cover to make sure it’s not them.
The solution to this is problem single payer healthcare, but without further ado click the link below to read more about this bill.
Health Secretary RFK Jr has made no statement on this legislation, nor has he mentioned the snack food lobbyist staffing the USDA.
