NH: She wrote the law on raw milk ice cream

Republican Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler’s push to ban raw milk failed for the second year running, as North Carolina’s 2026 Farm Act passed clean.

SB 2028 is now law in Oklahoma, raising the monthly on-farm raw milk sales cap. Advertising no longer prohibited. Off-farm retail sales remain prohibited after companion legislation stalled in committee.

The three-bill package has cleared the House Government Operations and Rules Committees and is pending further House action.

The bill raises the on-farm raw milk sales cap from 100 to 1,500 gallons per month, permits advertising, allows farm-produced raw milk cheese, and mandates state-issued warning labels on all raw milk containers.

Pennsylvania Dept of Agriculture has advanced an amendment to 7 Pa. Code Chapter 59a that would allow licensed raw milk producers to sell raw butter legally. Final publication in the PA Bulletin is expected in Q2 2026.

HB179 was signed into law on March 26, 2026, removing the ownership requirement that had restricted retail raw milk sales to farms or farm-owned stores in Utah.
