Raw cultured milk from Jersey cows in Bryne

Jerseymeieriet is a family dairy on Herikstad Gaard, just south of Bryne in Rogaland. It says it is the only dairy in Norway selling products made from pure Jersey milk. Sonja and Per Ådne Skårland have farmed Herikstad since 2001 and built the dairy on the farm in 2021.

Their raw product is Upasteurisert Kulturmjølk, an unpasteurized cultured whole milk with about 6% fat, sold in 1 liter bottles. It is whole Jersey milk soured with lactic acid cultures. It is mild and pourable, and keeps about four weeks refrigerated at 0 to 4°C. Drink it as is, or use it in cooking and baking. The dairy's other products, including the bottled milk, cream, butter, yogurt and gelato, are low-temperature pasteurized and not homogenized.

Jersey milk, 100% A2A2

Jersey milk has about 50% more fat and 30% more protein than ordinary milk, and a deeper yellow color. The Herikstad herd is 100% A2A2. The cows graze from May 1 to October 1, and the farm grows its own grass and grain, with no soy or imported feed.
