Nunavut has no agriculture sector of any scale and no dairy farming whatsoever, making it the most theoretical raw milk jurisdiction in Canada.
The federal prohibition in section B.08.002.2 of the Food and Drug Regulations applies in Nunavut as it does nationwide. On its creation in 1999, Nunavut carried over the body of Northwest Territories legislation then in force, including public health legislation and the Milk Regulations made under it, which continue to apply until replaced. There is no herdshare, cow-share or on-farm sales exemption.
There is no dairy production in Nunavut. All milk is shipped in from southern Canada by air or by sealift during the navigation season, which is a significant factor in the territory's food costs. There is no source of raw drinking milk, legal or otherwise. Aged raw milk cheese is legal under the federal 60 day rule where stocked.
