Legal Status & Regulations

Denmark permits farm-gate sales of raw milk (ra maelk) directly to consumers. Farms registered as primary producers under the Central Livestock Register (CHR) may sell raw milk collected within 24 hours of milking. The Hygiene Guidance (Hygiejnevejledningen) issued by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (Foedevarestyrelsen) governs hygiene standards; no separate raw milk sales registration is required.

Raw milk may also be supplied from farms directly to food businesses such as shops and restaurants, which may then sell it to consumers. Some farms operate self-service milk taps for direct sales.
